My first concert when I was a teenager was the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and boy do those guys know how to put on a show. My perfect digital piano must meet few criteria. It needs to be light. It has to have weighted keys, great sound quality, and all 88 keys. Finally, being cheap is always nice. I thought that the Yamaha NP30 was that perfect digital piano, but it does not meet one criterion.
Is it light? Yes. Actually, it’s one of the lightest digital pianos in the world. Does it have weighted keys? Well, they are not fully weighted, but the keys still have some weight on them. The sound quality is above average, and it’s incredibly cheap. In fact, it’s also one of the cheapest digital pianos with weighted keys. Although it met all these criteria, the Yamaha NP30 missed one crucial aspect; it does not have 88 keys.
The nearly perfect Yamaha NP30 only has 76 keys. That disappointed me greatly. I had been looking for the perfect digital piano and when I finally think that I do, I find out that it doesn’t have all 88 keys!
What’s so disappointing is that this is the closest digital piano to my ideal one. There is no other one that is quite like the Yamaha NP30. I guess I might just have to settle for a nearly ideal match.
